I learned a lot about San Francisco after this project! I feel like I would've liked the project a little bit better though if the time period was a set a little bit later in the nineteen hundreds as it was pretty hard to find a lot of information for the time period we had to do research on. I didn't know that much about San Francisco, so this project helped give me a pretty good insight on how it grew and thrived into the city we know it as today. We usually found out the information through sites on the internet and I even asked my dad and mom a few things to see if they knew anything about it.
My group decided to recreate the classic jukebox. Although we actually ended up creating a later model of the jukebox, the original would be much too complex to end up properly recreating and would probably inevitably end in some sort of disaster. We also ended up bringing fortune cookies to the exhibition, just to add a little something to help us bring in votes for our country for the exhibition. I feel like we definitely made the wrong choice with our prototype, because the actual jukebox we were all dreaming of creating required a lot of teamwork, and that was something our group clearly ended up struggling with throughout the project.
For our prototype, we actually all split up the work pretty evenly when it came to that. We made it out of cardboard, cutting out all of the many different pieces of the jukebox using an exacto knife. The actual prototype ended up looking a lot better than the final product, and I like to think that that was because of the way we all split the work evenly on that and worked together.
I think after the exhibition I would like to learn more about Chicago. I didn't actually get to see their booth, because I was busy working at my own booth and didn't have time to look at anyone else, but from what I did see and hear, Chicago was the most popular and well put together group. It seemed fun and interesting, I really would've liked to see it.
I'm actually not feeling too well about our final products. It didn't really go too well, especially when it came to our final vision of the product. It didn't match up to anyones standards and it was pretty disappointing because the jukebox really could've been a lot better if our group had just worked together. Our booth was alright, it wasn't the best, but it also wasn't the worst. It was a far cry from perfect, but it was also a far cry from disaster.
I think exhibition went pretty well, even if our product wasn't really the best, most of or group members had researched everything and were pretty comfortable in that department. Everyone else seemed pretty prepared and a lot of parents and students really ended up liking the exhibition and found it very cool and interesting.
