This "quadratic postcards" assignment was a part of our quadratics unit. In this unit, we started with parabolas, the basics, and ended up finishing up the unit learning about squares and expansions.
Other things we learned and covered in this unit include: vertex form, vertex to standard form, and standard to vertex form. We learned all of the equations, how to solve to find different intercepts, and the vertex. Overall, this was probably one of my favorite units because of the way it challenged me to really want to deeply understand the subject. For this project, we were challenged to create postcards that relate math to the real world. We had to create our own question that somehow relates to something we're interested in, while also showing how quadratics can be applied to things we see everyday. We had to put this on a notecard or create it using photoshop or another digital source. Overall, I think this project actually went really well. I was pretty proud of the postcard I was able to create, just because this project was bit of a challenge for me, and I think I did okay. I feel like I could've made the question a little bit harder, but I wanted to go with something I was a little more comfortable with, even if I still had to do a bit of research to make sure the math and question made sense and were accurate. Here is a digital version of my postcard:
